Arc Chair

Through understanding the visual language of Eastern and Western aesthetics, the Arc Chair is an embodiment of both, Chinese and Scandinavian design. The chair's elliptic backrest references traditional Chinese seating of the 17th century Ming dynasty, while the bent plywood seat and supporting structure are influenced by mid-century Western design. The object is a culmination of contrasting cultures, which refers to the ever-changing melting pot of the contemporary American population.
