Plywood Whales are an exercise in the practice of bent lamination. As a woodworking technique, bent lamination has been used by many designers, most notably Charles and Ray Eames. The forms manipulate a utilitarian vocabulary into a visual antipode of heavy and light. This gesture is an expression of elegance and technical feat.
